Fun with contours

Our most recent AO meetings have been more fun than business.  We attended a life drawing class at the Woodstock Art Gallery in March, there was a talk and demo by Rita Milton in April at the Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre on abstract art, and then this month we did a fun session of creating abstract figures with contour drawings at the Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre.

Modelling for each other, we did quick two-minute contour drawings either in pencil or with black ink, not looking at the paper – only looking at the person modelling.  Then we proceeded to make paintings out of them with various water media like markers, watercolours or acrylics.

Below are some photos of our activity as well as one example of how they turned out.  All were very different.  It was a learning experience as well as a lot of fun.  Good idea Mike!

Lianne’s piece – with a few accidental spots from the trip home. In retrospect, using a white or black wax crayon instead of pencil would have been a great idea!
